This is a genuinely new kind of platform, so it's normal to have questions. Here are the ones that come up most.
World-class golf coaching knowledge that gets to know you as an individual golfer. If you have a PGA Professional, Coach supports the work you're doing with them. If you don't, Coach guides you through your conversations and the rounds and practice you log. Give it a real go and you'll quickly see it's no generic chatbot.
There's a common misunderstanding that coaching means looking at your swing and telling you what's wrong with it. Analysing a swing is only a small part of what coaching is.
Good coaching helps you reflect and gives you understanding. It doesn't just tell you what to do; it guides you there. Coach helps you practise properly, clears things up when something's on your mind, explains any part of the game you don't understand, and talks with you about how a shot should feel, how to plan it, and how to think when the pressure's on.
It's also a sounding board: someone to lean on when your game's getting you down, and to celebrate with when it's going well. Whether you have lessons with a PGA Professional or not, every golfer is better off with Coach in their corner.
Any golfer who wants to genuinely understand their own game. If you think about your rounds afterwards, why they went the way they did and what's holding you back, you'll get a huge amount out of it. Log your rounds and practice, talk to Coach regularly, and it's hard not to improve.
Golf has never had more information, and overthinking is one of the biggest problems in the modern game. Fodus Coach isn't more information; it's coaching. Its whole job is to help you actually improve. With a pro, you've got a team: your pro, Coach, and your own reflection.
Keep using them if you like. Most golf apps give you data: distances, dispersion, swing analysis. Coach does a different job: it coaches you. Bring what they tell you to Coach and talk it through.
Every level, from a complete beginner to a tour player. Coach adapts its depth, language and focus to you, just as a good PGA Professional does.
It'll give you clear, direct answers. But it also helps you understand why, because being told something isn't the same as understanding it, and quick fixes disappear as quickly as they came. Understanding is what lasts.
No. Without a pro, Coach is your main coaching relationship. If you start lessons later and connect your pro, Coach works alongside them instead.
Genuinely, anything about your game, or golf in general. Ask a technical question, talk through how you're feeling before a big round, work through a tricky shot or a course-management decision, or just think out loud about what's going well and what isn't. Coach can also pull up videos of tour players, build you a practice plan, and build you a nutrition plan.
Get to know Coach. Log every round and every practice session, and talk to him about anything on your mind — any thought, question, or feeling about your golf. The more you use him, the more he gets to know you, and the better he understands your game.
There's never a bad time, but a few good ones: the evening before a round, before you practise, and mid-practice if you want some advice. Bring anything: a shot you're unsure how to play, how you're feeling, the mental side as much as the technical. And be completely honest about your golf. The more honest you are, the more Coach can help.
Your own standing list of key thoughts and breakthroughs — the things you've discovered about your game, kept together so you can come back to them. If something clicks mid-conversation, you can ask Coach to save it for you, or add it yourself whenever you like. It's yours.
Soon after, while it's fresh. After a bad round, give yourself a little time first, and you'll see more clearly what was really good and bad. Logging is quick on purpose: we only ask for what helps Coach understand your game.
Information is everywhere: millions of swing tips online, and data on your club speed, ball direction and average miss. It tells you what happened. Coaching helps you understand yourself and the game, and takes that understanding to a better level, so you actually improve. That's what Coach does.
Video shows you what your swing looks like. It can't tell you what it should feel like, or help you understand what you're trying to do.
Used with a PGA Professional, video is a genuinely useful tool. On its own, it often leaves golfers stuck in an analytical mind, checking positions instead of playing golf. Getting good at golf depends far more on understanding what you're trying to do, and on feel, than on analysing a picture of your swing.
That's what Coach is for: helping you build real clarity and understanding of your own game.
No — Coach is an AI, built by a career golf coach. He's not a real person, but he's here to genuinely support your golf.
No — your chats with Coach, the AI, are completely private. Your Game Notes stay private too. Your pro never sees either.
Your pro sees the rounds and practice sessions you log, including any notes you write on them, and your handicap.
There's no messaging feature on Fodus Coach — no direct chat to other players, and no text channel straight to your pro. That's deliberate. This is a coaching platform, not a social one.
Yes. Coach guides young players, helps them reflect and answers their questions, in a way that suits their age, and works alongside their PGA Professional if they have one. Players under 16 need a parent or guardian's consent first. Our Safeguarding Policy sets out how we look after every young player.
Yes. Everything you log, and everything you talk to Coach about, is stored securely and used to help Coach understand your game and support you better. We don't sell your data, and we don't share it beyond what's already described in this FAQ: your pro sees your rounds, practice and handicap; your conversations with Coach stay private to you and are never shown to your pro.
We do keep a record of your conversations with Coach — for six years, or until your 25th birthday if you're under 18 — so that if anything is ever raised about what was said, there's a true account of it. We only ever read it to look into a concern or a complaint. Full detail is in our Privacy Policy.

Brief Assistant Coach on a player during or after the lesson, and Coach supports that player between lessons on exactly what you want them working on. It guides their practice, answers their questions and keeps them on track, and you'll notice how much clearer your players stay with it to lean on. Before each lesson, you get a full report on how they've been getting on. It's also there for you: a sounding board with vast coaching knowledge, whenever you want it.
No.
Golfers are going to use AI, whether we like it or not. But no AI can analyse a swing with all the nuance, cause and effect that an experienced PGA Professional can.
We believe the best use of AI is to make the human coach even better. Assistant Coach briefs you on every aspect of each player's game, so you'll understand your players better than you ever have before.
And your players' learning no longer stops when the lesson ends. Coach keeps them clear and on track until they see you again.
It complements it. Video shows you and your player what the swing looks like. Between lessons, Coach helps the player understand what they're trying to do, and what it should feel like, working on exactly what you've told it.
It also helps keep players out of the trap of filming every swing and checking positions on their phone, so they arrive at their next lesson clearer, not more confused.
Nothing. It's free to you, and there are no plans to change that.
Everything it tells you comes from what the player has logged and what you've told it. It can't see the player, and it knows that. It's there as your eyes and ears when a player isn't in front of you, not an independent voice.
Just chat to Assistant Coach about the player and what you're working on. Many pros do it during the lesson, so the player hears it too. Or write the notes yourself if you prefer. Before every lesson, Assistant Coach briefs you on that player.
You see the rounds and practice sessions a player logs, including any notes they've written on them, their handicap history, and the lesson notes and briefs you write yourself.
You do not see their conversations with Coach, or their My Game Notes. Those stay with the player.
Yes — individual or group. Tell it what you're thinking and it'll work through it with you.
Genuinely, yes. Talk through how you'd approach a problem, how a coach you respect might have handled it, the pros and cons of different methods. It's there to sharpen your own thinking, not to replace your judgement — you're the expert in the room.
Yes — Fodus Coach is perfect for exactly that. At the tip of your fingers, you can see how your entire squad is getting on.
The primary pro gives the lessons and briefs Assistant Coach. A secondary pro, often a county, college or national coach, can see the player's rounds and practice, but can't brief Assistant Coach for them.
Yes — every note has its own edit and remove controls, whether it was written by you or by Assistant Coach from a chat. Nothing's locked in once it's saved.
On purpose. Analysing a swing takes an expert eye, and that's yours. A player diagnosing their own swing from video, without that eye, tends to end up overthinking rather than swinging freely. Fodus Coach keeps the analysis with you.
No — nothing is reviewed. You're a professional. All the platform does is support your coaching and help take it to another level.
Players ask to join you, and you accept them; you can't add a player yourself. You can disconnect a player at any time, so if someone joins you by mistake, it's easy to undo.
Fill out the application form and we'll verify you with the PGA, or email hello@foduscoach.com and we'll sort it out from there.
